24,000 fans saw a pre-season game between Monty’s Full Python and Taumelig Totentanz, which surely marks a turning point for the Totentanz side. The first half saw Totentanz receive the kick. Within two plays Hin Werfen connected with Strumen Fest for a score. The Totentanz fans have seen this combination score most of the teams touchdowns last season. The Python’s were able to use up the rest of the first half in their slow march to a score and knocked rookie “Lucky” Fest out of the game. The second half saw more of the same from the Python’s as they took the second half kick and again marched down the field knocking out of the game four more of the Totentanz side. It looked very grim for the Totentanz side and the fans could see the frustration and dejection in the Totentanz player’s body language. Only able to field 8 players for the kick off, the fans saw the Python’s pull off a weak side blitz that knocked the ball loose from Hin Werfen hands. It looked even grimmer for the team, but in that moment of desperation the frustration turned to heroic inspiration. Somehow Umflutten Fest was able to dodge in and out of the Python players, pick up the ball, and throw a perfect pass to blitzer, Sich Erbosen, who dodged out and streaked down the field and handed off to Strumen Fest, who managed to loose the ball when he wasn’t able to dodge as well as Umfluten or Sich had. It was grimmer still when the Python’s picked up the ball and tried to add to their score, but the failed pass attempt fell to the ground where Umfluten Fest once more dodged among the Python players, picked up the ball, made a pass to lineman, Um Ran Dung, who caught the ball in his big claw, dodged away, handed off the ball to Strumen Fest, who this time dodged away from two Python players and scored as time ran out in the half. Fortunately for the Python’s, they won the coin toss for the overtime kick off and were able to use their greater numbers to score again. Although the Tontentanz side lost, they came together as a team, and even though they were short handed, found a way to come back to tie the score in the second half with the most unlikely of players. After the game MVP Um Ran Dung said, “Today’s match is something the team can build upon as we go forward into the regular season. We now are no longer a two player team, but we have discovered that every player on this team has the ability to contribute and we may be even more dangerous short handed then at full strength.” Umflutten Fest, arms around teammates, Strumen and Sich, added, “We now know how to turn frustration into inspiration, and the greatness of this team can only be encouraged by going all out all the time.”
