In a game that resembled a Jerry Lewis movie, the lizards and orks bumbled, stumbled, slipped, and fell all over the pitch in a match with a finish that was improbable as the amount of failures in the 20 turns before the final score.
The game was dictated by the Sour Worms' special card- Rowdy Crowd. Getting a free sideline assist for the entire game is amazing for 50,000 gp. The Worms' took two Bloodweiser Babes, two rerolls, and a merc lineman for his 390,000 gp of inducements. The rerolls were vital.
The lizards' luck was good early, scoring quick and knocking out two orcs. The orcs stormed right back after two double skulls in a critical block location allowed the orcs to storm down the pitch to tie at 1 all at half time. A cheap shot foul by the goblin was successful for a KO, but the ref knew it was coming (rolling double 4 for the armor and double 4 for the injury).
The lizards, kicking off in the 2nd half, pinned the ball in the back corner of the end zone, and a skink mob psyched out the ork thrower who fumbled the ball onto a waiting skink. The skink walked in and scored, taking a 2-1 lead.
The orcs answered right back as the lizard dice evaporated again, this time not to return. After the Kroxigor failed his third block on a "skull-double down" result, the orcs were able to break a blitzer through the pack and score on the last turn, forcing OT.
Xlacopatlan Sol played their special card- Bad Kick- on the kick-off, causing the ball to go out of bounds, and putting it into the hands of a saurus. The Sour Worms with their two induced rerolls, burned through them all in OT. Sol had one, and needed four.
The Saurus handed off to the AG4 skink for a lightning trip and try at score, getting two squares from the end zone with a pack of 4 skinks for support. A lone blitzer wedged itself between the skink pack and the end zone. The choice was a two-die block with no rerolls (a push securing victory) versus three AG4 stunty dodges with dodge reroll. (Dan: I chose poorly.) The two die block was skull-double down.
Without any rerolls left, the Worms pulled an elven play out of their stinky green backsides. A second ork blitzer ran into the pack, used a GFI to blitz, and knocked down the ball carrier. The ball scattered out, tossed in but out again, tossed in and landed just short of the sideline, three squares from where it started. A third ork blitzer picked up the ball and handed off to a lineman. The lineman chugged 5 squares and passed to another lineman, who caught the accurate pass. That lineman chugged his five squares, and got 2 GFIs to score, winning the match 3-2.
